I occasionally drop by to upload stuff but I haven't actually interacted on DeviantART in years. It kind of feels overwhelming, I guess, to try to socialize on here after so much time. But I sincerely thank everyone interested in my art, new and old.
I created my account here 10 years ago when I was 15. Yeah. I'm fucking ancient now, I guess!
A lot has changed since then. I started and graduated high school. I completely changed my style 2-3 times. I graduated college with a BFA in Illustration. I started traveling to conventions. Now I am beginning an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist.
Even if I am never as active as I was before, I'll always have an appreciation for this website. 10 years ago I was a very lost, very sad kid trying to share my art and connect with people. Now I am less lost and less sad, but I will never forget the connections I made here.

It's arrived, winter break! No more all nighters, stress, and the constant looming burden of due-dates...at least for the next month.
In that past 3 weeks I drew 24 illustrations. I kid you not, TWENTY FOUR. Despite appearances, I am not a machine. During this time, I also worked at my non-art job, wrote a few essays, crammed for my art history final, and went to classes. It still hasn't quite hit me that I don't have anything that I HAVE to do.
For now I can relax and make bat ornaments for my christmas tree, chill with my kittens and my boyfriend, and do what ever the hell I want 8D
Also, for those of you in the Baltimore area, Ukazoo Books is selling originals, prints, and framed prints of my artwork (and plushies), check it out! They're an awesome bookstore besides that, thanks to them my vampire novel collection has tripled.

I wore purple today as my token effort.
But if you know someone enduring that kind of harassment, please, I beg you, do more than adjust your color palette.

Bullying is not "a rite of passage" or "a fact of life". It is the dehumanization and ridicule of another human being. Some people barely survive it, some people never do.

The pain from bullying still clings to my self image today. There are things that happened that I still can't talk about. And if I had at the time? The authority figures at my middle school weren't much better than my peers. Sometimes they even joined in with taunting "the weird kid". I literally felt completely alone, like no one would miss me. That's not a cliche, that is the truth and if you think someone you know might feel that way, don't let them suffer alone.

I'm now a sophomore in college now, 6 years later, and I still can't look at my body without disgust. I still can't give a straight answer when a stranger asks my sexuality or religion. I remember middle school like this black hole of self loathing that's always in the back of my head, threatening to suck me back in.

If you are going through it, I promise you, if you just hold on, things will get better.
